Reflection, My First NFT

We are living in transformative times. Digital art, often viewed as having no real intrinsic value outside of the commercial or cinematic arts, has suddenly become a highly coveted “high” art form thanks to blockchain technology. As a result, digital artists are at the vanguard of a new artistic movement. You might say the name of this movement is Crypto Art or NFT Art, although it is merely the adaption of the art we’ve always known into a contemporary setting.

Reflection, my first NFT, is a 3D animated work of art that explores the experience of viewing artwork. It was inspired by a poem that I wrote called the Sphere of Reflection.

In the piece, a work of art is represented by a perfect sphere, a symbol of the unlimited, all encompassing nature of art. The sphere is reflective because individuals bring their own experiences and personalities to bear upon viewing art. This individuality is reflected back at them during the experience and helps them to form their own unique conception of the work and what it means to them.

2160 x 2160 pixels (preview 720 x 720).

The viewer is represented by an eye, but it is really you. You stand before the artwork, but what do you really see? Yourself. Upon being confronted by one’s self, you move back to recline in a comfortable armchair in order to contemplate that which you have seen.

All modeling, animation and rendering was custom made and created for this NFT artwork.

Reflection contains a 3D animated looping motion clip at a resolution of 2160 X 2160 pixels. Collectors, or those owning this NFT will receive a print of the final frame of this NFT (custom sizes, within reason, are available) on museum-quality archival paper. Each print will be hand signed. Simply contact me after purchase to receive the print. Besides the print, collectors/owners will receive a certificate of authenticity.

In addition, all collectors/owners will be part of my art society. While nothing has been announced yet, and nothing is guaranteed, as a token of gratitude for those who collect my work, I intend to offer gifts, lectures and tutorials to those who are part of the society. I would love to grow the society to those who love and wish to discuss great art.

Feel free to get in touch with questions, thoughts or any ideas.
